Pool & Spa Lights on Oahu

Many customers think a pool light is a well just a pool light and they are all the same. Unfortunalty that is wrong. Firstly the maufacturers decided to make each light unique, meaning that if you have a particular manufacturer you will have to stick with that company unless you want to drain the pool, chip out the holding ring and cement in the new one (no one does this). Secondly things have changed recently, most pool lights installed before 2010 were 120v meaning that in your pool you have the same voltage as a toaster oven, if any leakage happened...well we have all seen the movie scene with the toaster and the bathtub. Now there is a much safer, brighter and longer lasting option in a L.E.D 12v (low voltage) pool and spa lights. Starting in 2017 no new pool construction is allowed to install 120v lights, additionally the manufacturers will start to phase out replacement units. So if you need a new pool light go with the safest option 12v. If you are interested in changing your pool light here on Oahu give Kai Lani Pools a call and we can walk you through the options (808) 397-1099
